We saw Bliss Studio at the High Point show this past week and we just love it! The company makes great decorative pillows. Now, you would think that's the easiest thing to make in the world, but it's really hard to find a vendor who makes cool ones.

Chocolate/White Story

We just LOVE the combination of chocolate and white together. There is something very decadent about it. Maybe it's because it reminds us of a Dove ice cream bar dipped in dark chocolate....

When it comes to decorating though, this is probably one of the hottest combinations ever. Here is a sampling of products that combine the two colors remarkably well.

1)Leather upholstered bed-this can be done in your own fabric. We've done this in a white leather and nickel polished nailheads. It looks fabulous!

2)The white console can be obtained from Patagonia Trading Company. This company makes fabulous, stylish beds and other casegoods. The prices are good, but the quality is mid-range. It's the kind of furniture you have fun with, but not the kinds you keep forever.

3)The faux tulip arrangement is one of our favorite. It's simple but very pretty.

4) The wallpaper is by Kelly Weartsler for F. Schumacher. It's called Imperial Trellis and it's one of the most popular wallpaper for the stylish set.

5) The white wall scone is by Jonathan Adler for Robert Abbey. You can buy this item from Inside Avenue. It does have a long lead time of 6-8 weeks.

6) The white mirror is by Art Dreams Home. You can find this item on Inside Avenue web site.

Now, if you haven't had a Dove chocolate bar ice cream yet, you MUST have one. It's one of the things you have to eat before you die!

Green Story

When the weather gets warmer and spring is here, we just get in the mood to make our home fresh and fun. What better way to do it than with colors? Today, we are in the "green" mood. Here are some fun products that would make a wonderful room in green.

Welcome to spring!

Red Story

Sometime it's easier to envision how a product looks in a room if you can see it together with other items. Let's face it, most of us are not that imaginative--we need help!

In that spirit, we are trying out a new feature where we put together a group of products in a comprehensive manner so you can see how it looks. Here is our first try. Let us know what you think:

4) The pillow is from Legacy Linens. This company makes wonderful bedding and decorative pillows. The products look way better in person than they do on the web. The only set back is it's custom-made, so you 'll have to wait a while...

Fabulous Wallpapers-F Schumacher

Have you seen the latest wallcoverings from Schumacher lately? The site has just recently been relaunched and we must say, it is looking great (to see the site, go to F Schumacher.com). For the very first time, you can view and search products on line.

Here are some of our favorites:

This pattern is called Imperial Trellis. It's a very popular design from Kelly Wearstler for Schumacher. It comes in several colorways, including Citrine, Chocolate (shown). Check out the site to view the complete colorways.




Here is one from the Avant Garde collection. We think it's so fun and whimsical!

Schumacher wallcoverings are quite expensive ($150-$200) per roll. It is only sold to the trade. However, here's a good online source for F Schumacher Wallpapers.

Tips Membersihkan Noda Kaca Kamar Mandi

Kaca kamar mandi sering sekali cepat kelihatan kotor dan kusam. Penyebab utamanya adalah uap air, busa sabun, pasta gigi dan zat kimia lain. Sering kali kotoran itu makin lama justru makin mengerak dan susah dibersihkan, terutama jika terkena uap air panas.

Adapun cara membersihkannya adalah siramlah dan basahilah seluruh permukaan kaca dengan air panas. Setelah itu olesilah seluruh permukaan kaca dengan shampoo lalu diamkanlah selama 5 menit. Setelah didiamkan dan shampoo menjelang kering siramilah kembali dengan air panas, maka permukaan kaca akan bening seperti baru. Jika kaca masih terlihat kusam ulangilah langkah-langkah tadi tapi sebelumnya olesi permukaan kaca dengan minyak tanah.

MACAM - MACAM JENIS PINTU

Pintu tak lagi tampil ala kadarnya. Namun kini pintu juga muncul dengan teknologi baru dan jenis yang bervariasi.

Pintu Swing

Jenis pintu yang paling umum dan selalu digunakan di bangunan manapun adalah pintu swing atau pintu kupu-kupu, yaitu pintu biasa yang dapat membuka-menutup dengan cara didorong ke depan atau ditarik kebelakang dengan putaran satu arah maupun dua arah.

Kelebihan pintu swing :

Engsel lebih mudah dipasang dibanding pintu folding dan perawatannya lebih mudah karena tidak ada bantalan rel.

Kekurangannya :
Butuh ruang mengayunkan pintu untuk membuka pintu.

Pintu Geser

Pintu model ini sering disebut juga dengan sliding door. Cara membukanya dengan menggeser pintu ke samping kanan atau kiri. Pintu geser ini biasanya digunakan pada ruang yang sempit karena tidak memerlukan ruang unntuk mengayunkan pintu seperti pintu swing. Pintu geser juga mulai banyak digunakan pada lemari pakaian. karena memberikan kesan rapih. Namun kekurangannya, pemasangannya lebih sulit dan memerlukan struktur bantalan yang kuat untuk menggantung, dan dapat merepotkan bila roda keluar dari rel pengaman.

Pintu Lipat

Pintu ini sering disebut juga dengan folding door. Cara membukanya pun tidak berbeda dengan pintu geser, yaitu dengan digeser kesamping dan menggunakan bantalan rel, namun bedanya pintunya dilipat. Jenis pintu ini biasanya sering digunakan pada ruang keluarga yang menghadap ke taman belakang atau pada pintu garasi.
Kelebihannya :
Dapat membuka pintu lebih lebar dibanidingkan pintu swing dan pintu geser.
Kekurangannya :
Sering masuknya kotoran kedalanm rel dan membuat mekanisme pintu tidak lancar saat dibuka-tutup.
Memerlukan spasi vertikal untuk tempat daun-daun pintu melipat ke dalam.

Pintu Putar Otomatis

Pintu putar otomatis atau revolving door digunakan pada mall, hotel, dan gedung perkantoran. Pintu ini akan berputar secara otomatis saat terdapat gerakan orang yang hendak memasuki ruangan.
Kelebihan pintu putar otomatis :
Tetap dapat menjaga suhu yang berada di luar dan dalam ruang tidak bercampur.
Kekurangannya :
Dapat menyebabkan antrian ketika sedang ramai orang yang ingin keluar-masuk bangunan
